Mini Road Runner Rallying consists of driver Nev Astbury and co-drivers Andy Creer and Andy Elliot plus an assortment of other helpers and important people lovingly referred to as their 'support team'.
The team was formed in October 2005 after Nev and Andy Creer teamed up together to compete on a scatter rally with Wallasey Motor Club. Having Previously competed with different drivers and navigators, Nev and Andy Creer discovered that as a team they worked well together, got on with each other and most of all had fun.
After deciding to team up on a regular basis, discussions and focus soon turned to preparing the mini to stage rally specification and getting it MSA log booked. The original plan was that with starting the work in November 2005 the car would be ready to compete in by the spring of 2006 so they could compete in the ANWCC Tarmac Championship. As often happens in these cases the car was not back on the road until July 2006 so the decision was taken to use a couple of sprints, a hill climb and a road rally as shakedown testing for the 2007 season. On 6th August the mini made its competitive debut in rally trim at a sprint meeting at Three Sisters. This was followed by a hillclimb on 20th August, a road rally on 9th September and a two day sprint day meeting on 23rd/24th September - the car ran well with few faults until the diff expired in spectacular fashion at Thoresby.
After the failure of the diff it was decided that time would be taken to build a relatively bomb proof engine for the mini so much of 2007 was spent doing that and carefully running it in. After a shakedown test sprinting at Curbrough the mini finally made it's stage rally debut on the DPS Ranges Stages on 11th August 2007.
In 2008 Andy Elliot took over co-driving duties whilst Andy Creer takes a break due to family and job pressures although he can be found servicing for the team and will be back in the co-drivers seat in the future.
